Museum accreditation consists of the evaluation and official recognition of its technical quality (Article 106)

• Accreditation objectives

  • The accreditation aims to promote access to culture and the enrichment of cultural heritage through the introduction of rigorous and quality standards in the exercise of museological functions of museums in Cape Verde (Article 107).
  • Accreditation may be requested by any museum with legal personality or by any public or private legal entity to which a museum is affiliated (Article 108).
  • The accreditation of a museum depends on the fulfillment of the following requirements (Article 109):
  • a) Fulfillment of the museological functions provided for in articles 7 to 43 of this law;
  • b) Existence of human and financial resources and facilities contemplated in articles 44 to 51;
  • c) Approval of the museum's regulation according to article 53;
  • d) Guarantee of public access in the terms foreseen in articles 54 to 62.
• The Museums Network of Cape Verde is composed of the museums existing on national territory and accredited under the terms of this law (Article 103).
